• White Styrofoam (1 foot x 8 feet)
  • Knife
  • Measuring tape or yardstick
  • Skewers
  • Glue (white or hot glue)
  • Duct Tape (optional)

  1. Measure and cut two pieces of Styrofoam 18 inches each to be legs on each end.  Optional- Cut an upside down “V” on the bottom center of each leg.
  2. Measure down three feet of the Styrofoam plank to be the bench seat.
  3. The remaining piece of Styrofoam can be cut in half as two squares then each square divided in half by cutting diagonally to create four triangle pieces as corner braces.
  4. Assemble- Place the leg under the seat about three inches from the end.  Push a couple of skewers (about half way in) through the seat on both sides of the leg to secure it in place.  Repeat on the other leg.
  5. Place a brace under the bench and against the leg (tight into the corner).  Push a couple of skewers through the seat and a couple skewers through the side of the leg in the brace.  Repeat on each brace.
  6. At this point, there will be a lot of skewers sticking out of the bench. Use wire snips to snip off the skewers at the surface of the Styrofoam.  If a little is sticking up, push it in with your finger.
  7. Turn the bench upside down and glue all the pieces together. Let it dry completely.
  8. Optional- Add colored duct tape strips to the top of the bench, legs or collar around the brace area of the bench.
