Get ready as we approach “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”

Scroll down for a FREE, fun Christmas craft that may be useful for you this season!

Hey Hey Friends,

Sometimes I get intimidated by the holidays. Volunteers are traveling out of town, Christmas plays and programs are around every corner, I want children to have fun and memorable crafts and activities to do, bulletin boards need decorating, and children are in the hallway waiting for class to start.

From years of experience, it is my goal to assist you as we all work to champion children’s ministry, especially during the holidays. We have many Christmas resources like props, easy photo backdrops, Christmas shirts, free Christmas downloads, Doodle Art and more! These new resources will be available to you NEXT WEEK, and we are thrilled to give our subscribers a sneak peek today!!

Rather than letting the chaos of the holiday season affect me, I found ways for myself and my teachers to thrive in it. I have created various resources to assist in children’s ministry. Holidays 365, for example, is a book I wrote to provide a ton of craft and activity ideas for all holidays year-round! Even though I wrote it, I forget what items I need for certain crafts; and this book is always a quick and easy solution!

You can check it out here if this book may be helpful to you!

Below, I have a great Christmas Nativity Plate craft for you! Check out the video below where I walk you through exactly how I made it!

Gather Supplies:

  • Ceramic Plate (Smaller size, white/light colored plate.)
  • Black Sharpie
  • Light Blue, Yellow, Dark Brown, Medium Brown, Tan Acrylic Paint
  • Baby Wipes (Helpful for cleaning fingers between paint colors.)

Instructions:

  • Depending on the age of the kids, you can either have them write “You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. Luke 2:12 around the edge of the plate, or already have it written in sharpie for them before they begin.
  • Start with the dark brown paint ,let the kids finger paint the “manger” base.(Thumb and pointer fingers work best for this project since there’s usually more control over those fingers.)
  • Next, grab the tan paint and make finger prints for the “hay”.
  • The medium brown can be used on the thumb for Baby Jesus’ head, and another finger in light blue for his “cloths”.
  • Finally, use a finger in yellow paint to make the star.
  • Let the paint completely dry a few hours before baking.
  • Once dry, bake the plate for 30 minutes at 250’F to set and seal the design on the plate.
  • Remove with a potholder and let cool completely before touching. Plate should be used as decorating only, not for serving or for eating off of unless paint that is for glass is used when crafting and the plate is cleaned after baking.
  • *Plates at Dollar Tree work great!
