Thirteen years ago, I was driving and praying about the many needs I see in children’s ministry and asking God why there was not someone to champion this very important ministry in the church. You need to know, I was so upset that I could not even listen to music. I was having a heartfelt one on one conversation with the Lord. After a while of praying (better known as ranting), I was quiet. That’s when I clearly heard Him say, “It is you.”
I remember looking up with my eyes wide and voicing the words, “I can not do it! I have no idea what to do!” In my panic, I heard Him say, “Trust me.” I thought the Lord was crazy because He knows what a scattered mess I am but those simple words in that quiet moment could not be ignored. I told the Lord I will trust Him and will follow what He leads.
Mr. Mark’s Classroom was a place for me to share ideas I was doing in my preschool classroom and my elementary classroom on Sundays and Wednesdays. Parenting conferences became an option as I was leading training events across the nation. Then to my surprise, God moved me into a large church ministry that further expanded my learning experience and opened doors to know such wonderful families in that ministry as well as ministry friends across the nation. I’ve also had such incredible times of working in denominational capacities and LifeWay Christian Resources but now God has really moved me out of my comfort zone.
I have transitioned to full-time work at Mr Mark’s Classroom. It is true. I resigned the church ministry position to dedicate myself to serving churches, pastors, children’s ministers, and teachers. God has already blessed us with office space and Gracie (our only employee) had started full-time July 2024 so we could have better customer care response. Others are contracted to help with video, graphic design, accounting, event management and more.
I plan to always teach boys and girls the Bible. My happy place is teaching. Now, I can train leaders and teachers across our nation to discover their superpowers at teachers and teach kids the good news of Christ. I get to share more ideas than ever before through social media, our website, and trainings conferences by video, Zoom, or in person. I am available on Sundays now without juggling crazy schedules and demands.
I am a bit nervous since I have no idea what God has planned but I choose to trust Him and be faithful to investing in those who bring the salvation message to our children. I have started a “Prayer Partner” list for anyone who will partner with me on this exciting adventure.
