Have you ever said that? Are you saying it now? This time of year is such a test for me and for many children’s ministers. Finding workers seems to have gotten so much harder than before.

A friend came by to see me. He shared that he was finished with Kid’s Ministry. I was so sad to hear this and to see the pain he was experiencing. After our conversation, I began to evaluate and consider what was keeping me in the ministry. Here is a quick checklist I came up with and cover in more detail in this short video:

  1. Revisit your call.
  2. Are you drawing close to God?
  3. Are you doing the minimum?
  4. Invest in yourself. Are you getting training? Are you reading books?
  5. Find friends you can meet with weekly and talk about your wins and challenges.
