Supplies:
- Sheet pan or tray
- Colored paper (enough to fill the bottom of the pan or box)
- Tape
- Sand
- Word cards
Prepare:
Tape a brightly colored sheet of paper to the bottom of a sheet pan or tray. Cover the paper with a thin layer of sand. Set out word cards.
Play/Do:
Encourage a child to make lines in the sand with their finger or a small paint brush. Older preschoolers can practice writing using the word cards as example words. The colored paper will make the lines more visible through the sand. As the children work, talk about the sandy roads that people used in Bible times.
