It’s time to plan ahead for your “Pastor’s Appreciation Day” in October. Churches can choose a day to celebrate and love their pastor(s). Here’s a fun idea we did last year and I thought you might like to consider it. Our pastor was so surprised when we brought him a laundry basket filled with socks. Later he discovered all the notes attached and rolled up in each pair. This was a great idea submitted by Susan O’Dell. What will you lead your children’s ministry to do?
Surprise Pastor Appreciation Gift Idea
Invite each family to bring a pair of socks that would fit the pastor and also best represent their family. Families could write kind notes on paper strips and roll them up in the socks. Sock rolls can be tied with a ribbon. Encourage families to pray over their pair of socks as a family and attach a note, “We prayed for you to be blessed the day you wear these socks for the first time.”
Ask families to bring socks on or before the designated date to the drop boxes in both the preschool and children’s areas. Present them in a basket that says…”Pastor, You Bless Our Socks Off!” from the Preschoolers & Children.
How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” Romans 10:15
