Lay brightly colored paper in the bottom of a tray or shallow box. Cover the paper with a thin layer of sand. Suggest to a child that she use her finger or a small brush to make lines in the sand. (The colored paper will make the lines more visible through the sand.) She could make designs or letters in the sand. As she works, talk about the sandy roads that people used in Bible times. Tell the Bible story.
