Items Needed:

  • Index cards or cardstock squares (thick paper so that you cannot see the words through the card)
  • Marker

Prepare:

This game can be modified by age group: the older the child the longer the verse you could use. A shorter verse would work well with a younger child.

Plan to divide the words of the verse among 4, 9, 12, 16 or 20 cards so that you can lay them out in a grid. Write one, two or three words of the Bible verse on each card according to the number of cards you plan to use.

Play:

Shuffle the cards and place them face down on a flat surface. Each child takes a turn revealing two cards until they find the first and second words or phrases of the verse. If they do not find the correct words or phrases in order then the child turns the cards back face down and the next person tries.

Continue taking turns until the entire verse is revealed, then rearrange the cards so that they are in the correct order and say the verse together.
