Are you looking for a way to appreciate your VBS workers?  Here is an idea we used at Christmas for our workers.  We have such wonderful teachers on Sundays and Wednesdays.  We decided to make something with our own hands that might be a bit more special than a purchased gift.  It saved a lot of money and that was good since we were all asked to put the brakes on our spending.

This simple STAR string art project was a hit.  We used some old barn wood and fence pickets we collected.  I quickly cut the squares with my skill saw, then we cleaned them with a strong brush to knock off any dirt.  Next, we used a star pattern we pressed out.  Holding the small nails with a clothespin, we hammered in the nails at each point of the star pattern which was laying on the wood.  We tied the string around the nails and then into a bow.  Finally, we added the tag that read, “Just like Bethlehem’s Star, thank you for leading children to Jesus.”  Our new tag says, “Thanks for being a shining star in our VBS 2017”

I added the printable tags to this post in case you would like to use them.  Just print them on yellow paper and use a tag punch out (purchased at Hobby Lobby).  You can also write it on the back of the wood too.  Your workers will be so delighted to get this token of appreciation.  I suggest handing them out on day four of VBS.  It seems to be the hardest day of the week.  Just a suggestion!

What do you think of this idea?  Post pictures of your appreciation ideas on my Facebook page- Mr. Mark’s Classroom so we can all see.  I love it when you tag me on your photos.

Mr. Mark
