Each year we enjoy providing “Light the Night.” Church members and classes have the opportunity to host the event for their neighborhood. They would set up a game or two the kids can play and give out lots of candy from the church, but best of all, I had a bounce house delivered to each host home. The response has always been terrific. Many neighborhood HOA’s have already announced there will be no trick-or-treating this year.  Just like every plan during this pandemic, we had to rethink how we could maintain social distancing and still enjoy talking to neighbors and friends. Trunk-or-Treat seemed like an obvious choice. We were thrilled with our idea to have a Drive-Thru version of Trunk-or-Treat at the church so people would not be walking and social distancing could still be in place. Then to our surprise, the CDC posted to “Avoid Trunk-or-Treat events.”  Yikes! They actually used those words. I can’t win! This is how everything has felt during this pandemic. Can I get an “AMEN?”

Finally, we went back to the drawing board and decided to call it “Candy Crush” and revised the method. Now, families can drive by the church and get a bag of candy for each child. It will be very much like when we were giving out lunches with volunteers wearing masks and gloves. When we give an information card about the church, it will have a QR Code that links to a registration for our drawings on November 1. I wanted to share the artwork and my description for the event with you. If you’re dealing with the same stuff, you are not alone. I hope this helps! Use it if you want.

Candy Crush Halloween Alternative Event

~ Candy Crush! ~
Drive-Thru by the Car Load!

Quail Springs Baptist Church is providing a safe way for families to enjoy a bag of candy on Halloween. Church members have donated candy to be bagged and distributed to kids on Halloween. The bags of wrapped candy will be given to each car from our church staff and volunteers wearing masks & gloves. Parents are invited to drive their car load of costumed characters to the church on October 31 from 4:00- 6:00 pm and receive a candy bag for each child. We are giving away prizes for kids, and also parents, in a special “Candy Crush” drawing. One-Stop Candy Crush!
